Acts of Kindness

In this time of fear, it is heartening to see the acts of kindness that people perform for each other.
A good family friend of mine recommended that I use the extra free time granted to me by social distancing to gather stories about acts of kindness during the pandemic and compile them together into a book. While I wasn’t ready to commit to a book, I did want to share with you the two stories she gave me to get the collection started. Hopefully, as my friend said, they will “light up the night.”
The dog walker I know passed by yesterday and told me that one of his client’s neighbors greeted him, went into his house, and came out with a $1,000 check and said: “This is for you. Let me know if you need more or any other kind of help.”

Our wonderful 91 year neighbor (a kindertransport child who came to Britain before coming to the U.S.) is in intensive care because of a very serious heart condition. Our mailman, who originally comes from West Africa, arrived at his house late afternoon with a bunch of yellow roses for his wife to take to him in the hospital.
If you’ve witnessed any other acts of kindness that you’d like to share with the world, let me know! I’d love to feature them here.
